Why flash on iphone us a bad idea

April 14th, 2010

Quite simply, there is no mechanism in the iPhone os to handle a message like this. Nor should there be on a mobile phone os.

new software and stuff

April 7th, 2010

So Im writing this from my iPad. The WordPress app has been updated to use the new layout of the iPad interface. Its pretty cook even if I am still getting used to typing on this thing. Its much like the iPhone in that you just have to start pounding away on the keyboard and let the spellcheck do its job. Once you do that you can start typing at a pretty decent clip.

This isnt a review, just a post to test the app.

It really gets away from you.

It really gets away from you if you don’t post pretty much every day, doesn’t it?

Working hard on iPhone Apps

March 20th, 2009

Working hard on iPhone apps to help get me out of my current employment. Maybe it’s a pipe dream, but I’m about sick of being there. New app just went into the store, Memory Tiles. It might be a little light on features, but it is only 99cents and v1.1 is already in progress.

I’m tired, so I think I’m going to head to bed early at 11:45PM. *sigh*

Is it Ethical

Is it ethical to push your own products on a site that is intended to be for promoting applications that are “fresh”?

Submitted a new game to the App Store

March 12th, 2009

Even while my puppies are wet from going outside and are now playing on my bed, *sigh*, I have just submitted another application to the App Store. It’s the full version of the Memory Tiles Game. There are still features that I need to add, but it’s not too bad for a 1.0 version of a game, I think. It has a laundry list of features that I need to add.

Expect to see a lot out of me in the next few weeks.

As I mentioned before, I think I’ve pretty much had it with work. We had a pretty good system of getting things done when it came to maintenance tasks and admin work, even though we were outnumbered 50-1 by servers. Things got done and people usually knew what was going on.

Now that we have a new CIO, things have changed. Apparently our focus is on new projects and getting those done. So now out of our department of about 100, at least half are in the brand new remodeled project office. Out actual support staff is down to about 18 people for all the servers and applications. I’m still trying to figure out how someone thinks that this is a good idea. All the new Microsoft stuff that we’ve put in over the past year keeps breaking for no apparent reason, and only the contracted consultants that put it in know anything about it.

And NOW, I have a conference room full of managers that don’t know a damn thing about technology (imagine that in the IT department) that are asking me about a problem with a slowness issue and backups. At 12AM, no less.

I need to win the lotto or something.

I have my iMac back!

March 4th, 2009

I’m really happy now. I was a bit concerned when I first powered it on and it didn’t boot, but it turns out they didn’t reinstall the OS on it since I have a backup that I’m going to restore from.

Now I can get back to developing once the restore is complete!
